Windmill, Dan Friel: Thrill Jockey Records. process sketch 02

Having explored a few other motion sketches and checked in with Dan, we realized that my first instinct was right. Dan loved the look and feel of the blinking orb animation. My only reservation remains that it doesn’t quite speak to Dan’s music (in my opinion). I feel like it needs to be balanced with some digital imagery.

After playing around with some forms in Cinema 4D, composited with the animation sketch and some light effects in AE, I’m kind of digging this look:

These are bit shinier and more dynamic than the pencil animation alone.
